KARSTADT NEW GENERATION AWARD

For the third time, the Karstadt New Generation Award will be conferred during this year’s MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK Berlin.

An advisory panel of cultural, media and fashion representatives has nominated four young designers from a pool of up-and-coming Germany-based designers

Blutsgeschwister, Boessert/Schorn, Esther Perbandt and Marcel Ostertag will be showing their latest collections on the catwalk of the Spring/Summer 2009 season.

To participate in the Karstadt New Generation Award, the young candidates had to meet the following criteria:

- be based in Germany

- be between 20 and 40 years of age

- not more than 5-6 years in business as a designer

- create women’s or men’s fashion with a recognizable philosophy

- be able to produce a collection of at least 20 outfits to an international standard without financial support

- own collection already in sale

The winner of the Karstadt New Generation Award will have the opportunity to design an exclusive collection for Karstadt which will go on sale in Spring/Summer 2009, providing the award-winning label with a platform to publicize its name and collections on a wide scale.
